Top 5 Authors I Need To Read

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Shanah – Bionic Book Worm and she very kindly allowed me to take part in this. I’m a day late but since I just discovered the meme yesterday – still figuring out book-blogging! – I’m going to do it anyway.

This weeks topic is Top 5 Authors I Need To Read. I will say it was a little difficult to choose because my TBR is two years long. So I went with the most popular authors I have heard being raved about on bookstagram but have yet read. The major reason for that is that when most of the aforementioned authors exploded across the reading community, I was going through the a major standalone phase and refused to read any books in an incomplete/just-started series. Case in point are Leigh Bardugo and Laini Taylor, whose series I just finished barely two months ago.

While this habit means that I’m always playing catch up with the rest of the world, it does leave a lot more relaxed. Still, having joined the blogging community now, I’ve started to let go. The Daevabad Trilogy is the first series I’ve broken this pattern with and while it’s agonizing to wait for Book 3, I dare say I enjoyed it.

Anyway, here goes nothing. Prepare to be shocked!

Sarah J. Maas

That’s right. I have yet to get my hands on any writing by Maas. But since both Throne of Glass and Court of Thorns are now complete, I’m going to get to this one soon. Fingers crossed!

V. E. Schwab

Robin Hobb

Maggie Stiefvater

Jay Kristoff

Kristoff is an exception in this list because unlike other writers, his books await on my shelf as I’ve already bought them. I just keep putting them off [especially Nevernight Chronicles] because I don’t have all of them yet. Some writers are a little hard to come by in my country and it can take months to procure titles. As a result, I’m awaiting shipments at this point so I can start on him.

Do you wait to read a series until you have all the books in line?

  1. SO SORRY for adding you so late! The notification got stuck in my spam folder and I missed it. This is a GREAT list! So many of my favourite authors on here. I hope that when you get to them, they become favourites for you too!
